Ah, the posse cut — remember those? It’s rare to see a legit one these days. Instead, we get the DJ Khaled approach where the biggest names appear on the same song, because sales matter (or something).

Anyways, with a string of singles (“Mentality,” “Somebody,”Trust Nobody,” “I Picture“) in rotation, the DMV spitter returns with “My Wallet” — a new record, featuring Boston’s Michael Christmas, New York’s Jimi Tents, and Chicago’s Saba, that explores the pressure for entertainers to portray a carefree, materialistic lifestyle.

“‘My Wallet’ is about me realizing how people start to look at me when the notice I have an expensive wallet,” Jay IDK told Noisey. “Women go crazy, because they think I have money. Friends and family become lazy and rely on me for the same reasons, and at the end of the day, it seems to make more sense to just have a black wallet without a logo.”

Produced by The WatcherZ, “My Wallet” can be heard below. Check it out and be on the lookout for Jay’s upcoming mixtape, The Empty Bank, dropping September 9th.
