With the 2016 homicide count in Chicago surpassing 500 over Labor Day weekend, the city has been in dire need of change. Artists like Chance the Rapper and Mick Jenkins are spreading love any chance they can, and today, fellow native Calez is joining the movement with his new video “312.”
“I created ‘312’ with the intention of shining light on the love that us Chicagoans have for our city and people,” Calez told Mass Appeal. “It’s an anthem! Chicago’s heart is unmatched and we’ll die for the ones we love.”
Taken off his forthcoming album, Baby, Calez’ animated clip for “312” (created by Nate Ott) can be seen above. Check it out and, if you’re digging what you hear, pick up the song on iTunes.
