Common Performs “Black America Again” On ‘Windy City Live’

Common took to Windy City Live — Chicago’s ABC-affiliated morning show — Wednesday morning for an interview. While there, he performed an acapella version of his new single, “Black America Again.”

The verses, which contain a slew of racial injustices ridden throughout America’s history from police brutality, mass incarceration, unequal pay, representation in Hollywood and more, were originally debuted in a freestyle on Sway in the Morning back in June. Common Sense’s spoken poetry roots helped bring some life to the bars in this performance.

Common didn’t announce when he’d release the single, but it’d probably be safe to assume when it does release, “Black America Again” would be the first single from his 11th studio album.
