Fresh off tour with Royce 5’9″, Grafh drew inspiration from some J Dilla production and decided to deliver a four-minute assault on all the competition with “Give It Up” last month.
“I learned so much touring with Royce,” G-R said. “Real lyrics, showmanship and the whole Detroit vibe put me in a zone. I started vibing out to old J Dilla classics and creating. Dilla actually gave me 4 tracks that I was suppose record with him before he passed. I never got the chance to work with him. This tour put me back in that creative space.”
Now, the Queens-bred lyricist is live from the MoMa as he brings the track to visual life in a new clip shot by Nells.
