Over the years, we’ve been showcasing more and more talent out of Milwaukee. And for good reason, too: the talent is inescapable. From IshDARR to Reggie Bonds, Pizzle to WebsterX, Von Alexander, AR Wesley, and so on.

Now, we’re taking a break from the rapping side of the city to shed some light on the production.

Introducing Thane, an upstart producer who is sure to make a name for himself after the release of his new album, Topia.

“I was dragged down by a lot of personal negativity around me but I felt as if negativity is something that is personally constructed, and it is just as real as positivity,” Thane told SoulBounce. “Topia then is this idea of neither your environment being an absolute utopia or dystopia. It is simply a place for the making of the individual -it is a choice and it is more open to what we can and cannot do or accomplish than what we believe it to be.”

Drenched in a fruitful blend of jazz, soul and electronica, the 12-track offering is quite the experience and features an assortment of talent. Anderson .Paak and BJ The Chicago Kid reunite on “Responsibilities,” Mick Jenkins appears alongside Solei (who I haven’t heard since Goldbloc controlled my speakers for months on end in 2014) on “Garden,” Low Leaf has a solo jam, and more.

Groove out to “Responsibilities” below and keep scrolling to hear Thane’s new album in its entirety. Downloads are available via Bandcamp.
