“The lyricism on display like an artifact // This is art of emceeing, this is hardly rap // In an isolated box, want no part of that // Wrong exposure cause a heart attack.”
DopeHouse favorite JSWISS (½ of the “Nice Guys” with Topiq) recently landed a feature on Leedz Edutainment‘s forthcoming compilation album, Eastern Standard.
On “Glass Case” — the project’s follow-up single to Mega Ran’s “The East Coast” — JSWISS and Jared Evan open up a pop-up art show, choosing to put carefully calculated lyricism into a glass display.
On the flipside of The Arcitype-produced banger, “Glass Case” can be interpreted as a metaphor for certain subgenres, and emcees for that matter, being compartmentalized into a stereotypical box — something all too commonly found in the world of art.
