This is some terrible news to wake up to.

Carlos Walker, better known as Shawty Lo, was killed this morning (September 21st) in what what is being called a “fiery car crash” on an Atlanta freeway.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Walker’s white Audi went over a guardrail on the I-285 southbound ramp at 2:20am, hit two trees and burst into flames. Police have said that Walker was ejected from the car and pronounced dead on the scene. His passengers, two women, were also injured but were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At the crash site, a CD for Shawty Lo’s single “Put Some Respek On It” was found on the side of the road.

Shawty Lo was a co-founder and member of Atlanta rap group D4L, which also included Fabo, Mook-B, and Stuntman. While the group notched a No. 1 single in 2006 with “Laffy Taffy,” Shawty would ultimately go solo in 2008 with his debut LP Units in the City. That album contained the singles “Dunn Dunn” and “Foolish,” as well as his biggest hit, “Dey Know.”

Walker leaves behind 11 children.
