Drake is going to be capitalizing off VIEWS for a long time, given all the awards (despite little acclaim) surrounding the album.

VIEWS was the first — and fastet — rap album to go platinum (then double-platinum, then triple platinum, and so on) this year. It was surprising how much it sold given it was an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks how much streaming matters to album sales.

VIEWS was the biggest exclusive — which came from the exclusivity deal Drake signed with Apple when the streaming service was originally announce — it has gotten in its year-and-a-half lifespan. And in that time, it was recently shared VIEWS is the first album to hit one billion streams on the platform.

That translates to over 650,000 albums sales — just from Apple Music streams — thanks to the RIAA’s new rules including streams as album sales.

The news was announced early this morning via Drake’s Instagram, the day after his short film, Please Forgive Me, featuring music from VIEWS debuted exclusively on Apple Music.
