Punk elements have shown up in Chicago rapper Ju‘s music dating back to “Burgundy,” where he amounted life to a game of roshambo (a.k.a. getting kicked in the nuts again and again).

His latest effort — “Stains” — furthers large-looming punk influence, from his delivery (that’s somewhat similar to King Krule), the content and the actual production — the song features a sample of the main riff of Blink 182’s “Adam’s Song.”

“This song is a perspective from a certain type of Chicago’s youth,” he told Mass Appeal, who premiered the song. “I wanted to make fun of the topic, while getting the point across that it is not sweet out here.”
