Over the last couple years, Sprite has blended with hip-hop both directly and indirectly.
There’s, of course, endorsements like Nas and J. Cole, whose lyrics are features in Sprite cans and bottles. And there’s rappers like Vince Staples who take their endorsements to the next level, rapping lines like, “bitch you thirsty, please grab a Sprite,” which may anger some Midwest Christian moms, and tweeting things like this:
When you look at a bottle of Sprite you don’t see race, gender, or orientation. You just see lemons and limes.

And there’s also the indirect path, which is when rappers like Future subliminally give Sprite promotion through lyrics and album titles like Dirty Sprite 2.
Lil Yachty seems like he’s gotten himself an endorsement from the lemon-lime beverage, as well, and his first ad has him starring in minute-long commercial with Sprite’s biggest spokesperson, LeBron James.
LeBron informs the public he’s not going to tell people to drink a Sprite, not even if Lil Yachty wrote lyrics telling you to drink a Sprite (“cold like a Sprite soda,” he sings over and over). But rather, he’ll politely ask, “do you want a Sprite?”
Watch the ad, which I’m sure we’ll see too much of once basketball season ramps back up, below.
