For over twenty years Common has defined what it means to reinvent oneself. Originally a 40s-spilling b-boy from the Calumet Heights neighborhood of the South Side of Chicago, Illinois (Can I Borrow a Dollar?), Lonnie has evolved into a Soulquarian (Like Water for Chocolate, 2000), a hippie (Electric Circus, 2002), a member of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music (Be, 2005) and a wise sage opening his doors for the next generation of Chicago stars (Nobody’s Smiling, 2014).

Lonnie returns with his 11th(!) album, Black America Again. A socially conscious project that also celebrates the Black spirit, Black America Again is led by the single “LoveStar” and has features from Stevie Wonder, BJ the Chicago Kid, Bilal (who is on four of the album’s 15 tracks), Syd (who is on two), and others.
