Young Guru.

Most millennials are not familiar with the name, and if one floats through the comments of a Youtube video that features the highly revered engineer, you’ll find plenty of depressing remarks by the youth who seem to confuse Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton with the late Keith “Guru” Elam of Gang Starr.

Hip-Hop’s stealthiest secret weapon, for those of you who are not in the know, is responsible for the flawless sonic sounds of some of your favorite rappers’ biggest hits, spanning engineer credits for the likes of Scarface, the St. Lunatics, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Fat Joe, Cam’ron, DJ Clue and of course, JAY Z.

Recently, Young Guru visited Cookin’ Soul‘s hometown of Valencia, Spain, where the respected producers took him record digging. The result of the trip was enough to create a documentary short — where all three producers show off their recent findings.
