At the top of October, Tonio Sagan, grandson of the late, great astronomer Carl Sagan released the first installment in his Voyager Records series.

Blending classical music, jazz, Hip-Hop/boom-bap and astronomy into a single, dense point, the Voyager Records series was curated and arranged, much like the Voyager Golden Record in hopes of reaching intelligent life that may lay just beyond or within our galaxy.

In the latest installment (“Voyager Records: Stranger Than Fiction”), Tonio samples Louis Armstrong’s aptly titled “Melancholy Blues” as well as Beethoven’s epic classic “Symphony No. 5 – I/Allegro con brio.” It’s eerie, but in all the right ways, and is enough to make Mark Snow (composer of “The X-Files” theme song) quite envious.
