Isn’t this a pleasant surprise.
In September 2016, J. Cole — while performing at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in Queens, NY, revealed that his set would be his “last show for a while.” Most people took it as a sign that he would head back into the studio to complete his highly anticipated fourth album.
As it turns out, those people would be right. Not only would Cole would finish the album, he is ready to share it to the world much sooner than expected.
Out of nowhere, J. Cole has announced that his new album titled 4 Your Eyez Only, is set to arrive exactly, two years after his last one, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, on December 9th.
The 10-track project, which will arrive via Dreamville/Roc Nation, is available for pre-order now.
UPDATE: On top of the announcement, Cole has also let loose a 40-minute documentary called Eyez.
Directed by Scott Lazer, the narrative-free visual offers a look into Cole’s music making process and life after 2014 Forrest Hills Drive.

It could be perceived that Drake also catches a stray shot towards the end — but it could easily be about ‘Ye still.
