Vince Staples Joins Flume & Kučka On Their Cover Of Ghost Town DJs’ “My Boo”

Australian radio station Triple J has a segment called Like A Version, where artists who stop by cover a song completely out of their realm of music. You’ve seen Childish Gambino cover Tamia’s “So Into You” and Ta-Ku and Wafia cover JoJo’s “Get Out” if you’ve been come by these pages over the last couple years.

The latest, though — a cover of Ghost Town DJs’ “My Boo” by Flume, Vince Staples and Kučka — might be one of the most original I’ve ever seen.

The song became popular again this year because of the Running Man challenge, where people would dance in place to the songs as if they world was in 1996 again. But Flume, Vince, Kučka and the other singers thrust the song into the 21st century with wavering, head-warbling production to place below and between the notable chorus and new verses from Staples.
