Let’s face it: there’s no money to be made in record sales anymore.
Traditional, physical sales aren’t what they used to be in the past (although, nostalgia-driven cassette and vinyl sales have increased over the past few years). While streaming is the present and the future, with artists making roughly between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream on Spotify, unless an artist is The Weeknd or Drake they’re unlikely to see a hugh profit from the platform.
So, musicians have altered their game plans to earn a profit in other avenues. Case in point: Nicki Minaj. She has teamed with the same minds behind Kim Kardashian’s mega-successful mobile game to create her own, The Empire.
As such, she has also crafted a song for it, “Ain’t Gone Do It,” which can be heard below.
