The cover for Ab-Soul’s new album Do What Thou Wilt featured a blank look from Soulo without his signature shades, which he use nearly all the time because of his sensitivity to light due to Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
He said it’s because he and the photographer wanted to capture the “angst” and the distressed feelings of honesty Ab-Soul delved into on his album.
Soul said: “With the light sensitivity, I knew it would be difficult. … A lot of anxiety for a couple hours, a lot of flash, but we were able to capture the moment. The photographer Chris I was working with, he really wanted to capture the angst.”
