Six.

That represents the total number of hip hop acts inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, now that Tupac Shakur will join those ranks.

2Pac will stand alongside N.W.A. (in 2016), Public Enemy (in 2012), The Beastie Boys (also in 2012), Run DMC (in 2009) and Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five (in 2007) in the Hall, as it was announced today (December 20th) that the late great will be inducted with Pearl Jam, Journey, Joan Baez, Yes and the Electric Light Orchestra. Unfortunately, other nominees such as Janet Jackson and Chaka Khan were not inducted this year.

‘Pac was inducted in only his first year of eligibility. For an artist to qualify for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, 25 years have to pass after their first release. 2Pac hit that mark on November 12th, commemorating the 25th anniversary of his debut album 2Pacalypse Now.

Inductees will be honored April 7th, 2017 at a ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
