Smoke DZA and Pete Rock dropped a gem of an album, Don’t Smoke Rock, which was one of the DopeHouse’s Best Hip Hop Albums of 2016. As the duo prepared for the album release concert, they allowed Mass Appeal’s cameras in during an intimate rehearsal session.
With a friendship that spans a decade, DZA fondly speaks on his crate-carrying days Pete and how their relationship blossomed into what it is today. DZA also opens up more about the sound of Don’t Smoke Rock, likening it to the unofficial soundtrack for the 2009 Blaxploitation comedy Black Dynamite.
