In a year where we lost far too many people, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States and the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA finals, there’s been one thing that remained a constant bright spot throughout — the music.

Last week, the DopeHouse put our collective heads together and came up with our Top 10 Hip Hop Albums, Top 10 Non Hip Hop Albums, and Top Emcees of 2016. But after looking at our respective lists, we realized we all had some vastly different choices. In fact, only two albums ended up landing on every writer’s list: Anderson .Paak’s Malibu and A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got It From Here.

There was a lot of dope music, though. So, although we took a different approach with our year-end lists this time around, we still wanted to provide viewers with our personal favorites in an attempt to shed light on some overlooked gems and possibly put you on to something you may have missed or ignored.

Below, you’ll find five video clips that show off Shake, Meka, Andreas Hale, Patrick Glynn and JES7’s individual favorites.
