Today is an incredible day, because today is the day I found out Kehlani cares about Akon as much as I do.

Well, I can’t 100 percent confirm we have the same level of care for one of the best hook-men in the 2000s (she may care more than me, I may care more than her), but her new song brought the idea to mind.

With her new album, SweetSexySavage, out in three weeks, Kehlani took to Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show to unveil “Undercover” — a bright, lovelorn effort that begins with an interpolation of Akon’s “Don’t Matter.”

She later takes the song from an Akon reference to under the covers, as the name of the song implies, but it comes back to the idea that people don’t want to see her with this person she’s under the covers with.

“Undercover” follows “Table,” “CRZY,” “Advice” and “Distraction” from SweetSexySavage. Listen to “Undercover,” produced by G.O.O.D. Music’s Charlie Heat, below.
