Queens rapper Bryant Dope last rolled through the DopeHouse with his How It Is Now EP. It was released just days before he appeared in Netflix’s The Get Down, but he returns for the first time since August with “Ice Water” — a two-minute quick hitter about finding success in other realms in hip-hop outside of rapping.

“This song was inspired by looking at the rap game as a whole from an outsiders perspective,” he told us over email. “I observed a lot of things going on that I wanted to speak on. It’s kind of statement to other artists that there’s no need to latch on to what’s going on if that’s not your preference. It’s better as an artist to stick true to what means the most to you and speak up on how you feel. We’re all apart of this culture and it’s important for all of us to regulate when we see things going left.”
