Big Sean was a guest on Zane Lowe‘s Beats 1 Radio show today (January 18th). While there, he opened up on his previous effort Dark Sky Paradise, its follow-up I Decided, the project’s concept and more.

Sean has decided (no pun intended) to be more personal than ever before on the project. “As an artist you can imagine, you make sacrifices as an artist like putting your privacy on the line,” he said. “If you’re a true artist you sacrifice your privacy, you sacrifice the stories of your life you’ve been through, you sacrifice all these different emotions and you put em out there but it’s for people to relate to it’s for people to help them get through their times.”

Sean also talked about letting André 3000 hear the album, Sean divulged some of the issues he had with his label, Def Jam, concerning I Decided as well, before revealing some of its contributors: Eminem, DJ Dahi, Metro Boomin, The-Dream, and more.
