Producer/drummer Ronald Bruner Jr. is putting out an album on March 3 called Triumph. The album will have features from Mac Miller, George Duke, Danielle Withers, Kamasi Washington and more, including Thundercat, who is listed on the project’s first single, “Take The Time.”

Thundercat — real name Stephen Bruner — is also Ronald’s brother.

“Take The Time” is as melodic as it is ferocious. The brothers step though various tempos and genres but are grounded by the theme of love that runs through Bruner Jr.’s lyrics: “You don’t have to worry/Love is full of controversy/Have a chance to change a page of someone’s life won’t be the same.”

Bruner Jr. described the influences behind the sound of the album on Bandcamp.

“Triumph’s trajectory in fusion is, in one way, a direct result of working with century defining artists such as Stanley Clarke, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Wayne Shorter, Prince, Chaka Khan, Q-Tip, Kenny Garrett and Stevie Wonder,” he said. “In another way, it’s the expression of a soul that’s independently seasoned, rich in unique experiences and unashamedly unrestrained. The musical manifestation of a man that’s evolved into the role of a father, musical anchor and community leader.”
