I was texting Shake, Meka and Ges all night to coordinate what we each were doing during the GRAMMYs. Once this commercial with Lil Yachty and Carly Rae Jepsen remaking (or destroying, depending whom you’re talking to) DJ E-Z Rock and Rob Base’s “It Takes Two” came on, there was a collective groan so loud from those three it permeated my phone and I heard it hear in Atlanta. It was so loud. I’m not understating this. I’m deaf now.
At the end of last week, with help from Mike WiLL Made It, Yachty and Jepsen’s remake surfaced on iTunes, and as it turns out, it’s a part of a campaign for Target to get people in its stores. That campaign ultimately culminated with a three-minute commercial that aired during the GRAMMYs Sunday night.
I’m all for grabbing those checks when they come calling, but as Meka said, DJ E-Z Rock didn’t die for this.
