Jay Electronica has been signed to JAY Z’s Roc Nation since 2010. In that time he has released a handful of singles, appeared as a guest on a handful of songs, and hasn’t released a full-length body of work.
It’s gotten to the point that, at a private party during the NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, JAY Z implored to him, “Let’s put this album out.”
Complex would actually catch up with the mega-recluse later that weekend and asked him about it. His response? Not exactly assuring…
“As far as an album, I would like to put out an album myself. Nobody in the world wants a Jay Electronica album out more than I do,” he said.
When asked what was stopping him, Jay responded “Nothing’s stopping me. I release music in my own time…” before likening his music to a never-satisfied designer constantly making changes to their garment line.
In other words, “don’t hold your breath.”
