Following homages from KXNG Crooked, MF DOOM, Thelonius Martin, Cookin’ Soul and even us here at The DopeHouse throughout the month of February, the family of J Dilla will continue to preserve the legacy of the fallen artist with a new compilation.
Titled Motor City, the project is inspired by Dilla’s hometown of Detroit, MI and is a collection of rare and unreleased Jay Dee instrumentals, all chosen and sequenced by Ma Dukes. The project will arrive April 21st.
J Rocc, founder of The Beat Junkies and the tour DJ for Madlib and Dilla’s group Jaylib, also concocted a special blend for the project, which can be heard below. Pre-orders for the CD, vinyl and deluxe edition are available now.
