Jonti a producer signed to Stones Throw and Future Classic. He’s prepping his first new project in five years, and he gets the ball rolling with a new single, “Scrood,” featuring Steve Lacy of The Internet, who just released a demo of his own.

The South Africa-born producer tours with The Avalanches, and “Scrood” follows a similar blissful, sample-heavy process as the band’s work. Jonti’s high-pitched vocals are layered across a set of dreamy samples, guitar and live drums, which match the euphoric feeling of love Jonti sings about.

“‘Scrood’ was born out of a late night jam with Steve Lacy in Los Angeles last June,” Jonti said in a press statement. “When I took it home I envisioned a story to go with it of a man walking through a burning city to get to this person he loves. Which is a metaphor, saying that even though it feels like the world is falling apart, I’m still going to try do my best and soldier forward with love.”
