Snoh Aalegra Releases “Time,” Which Was Sampled On Drake’s ‘More Life’

We’ve followed Snoh Aalegra for a couple years now, and we were happy to hear her music recognized and sampled on Drake’s recently released playlist project, More Life, on the final song, “Do Not Disturb.”

The song used wasn’t familiar, though, and that’s because it hadn’t come out yet.

The song — “Time” — still wasn’t officially released when it was sampled on the album, which is pretty confusing, but Aalegra explained how it worked to Billboard.

Essentially, she said she worked with Boi-1da on past projects, and he asked if she wanted to do vocals for various Drake songs. “I did a bunch of stuff for him but I have a tendency of playing around with existing songs I already have so I felt like sending him an a cappella of the hook of this song called ‘Time,'” which we can listen to now.

The song was pitched up and sped up on the Boi-1da-produced cut, which Drake used as an opportunity to reflect how life has changed while closing out his latest artistic output. But now we can listen to it in it’s true ballad form.

“Time” will land on Aalegra’s upcoming album, Feels, and was inspired by the loss of her father. “I lost my dad in 2009,” she said. “It’s about all different feels. I’m touching on all subjects in my life when it comes to love, life and everything, and that was something I wanted to write about.”
