It’s a 7 Cities reunion.

Earlier today on the latest episode of Othertone Radio, Stationwagon P assembled a roundtable of two different generations of Virginia artists, with The Neptunes affiliate Fam-Lay (Norfolk), D.R.A.M. (Hampton) and Pusha T (VA Beach) joining in for a discussion on all things Virginia.

In the brief colloquium, Push explains how he and Malice were influenced by “the streets, the hustlers, that whole energy. That late 80s, early 90s energy,” before D.R.A.M. quickly interjects, revealing to Pusha “We were influenced by y’all.”

Pusha also explains the pivotal role that Virginia Beach played during his come up: “You gotta remember that Virginia Beach was the first Miami. It was Freaknik before Atlanta. It was the first stop,” as well as the infamous Pizzazz nightclub, notoriously know for shootouts anytime “Shook Ones pt. 2” came on, and where Biggie Smalls was once spotted in.

Pharrell also took the time out to shower Pusha with praises, stating: “You look and you’re just like ‘Wow.’ He just has his own world that just continues to get deeper and deeper and deeper. I’m like, ‘Man, where do you find those metaphors?’ He just rhymes so much better than me. He always has.”
