Nigerian soul singer Maka has been heralded as “one of Africa’s best kept musical secrets of the year” following the release of her 2016 EP The Truth and her 2017 single “No One” featuring fellow Nigerian wordsmith/femme fatale Phlow.

With producers BFG and Teck-Zilla backing this brilliant, gifted singer (who is also a 500-level law student at Lagos State University), Maka is certainly poised for greatness in the new year and beyond. Fans of the neo-soul sound, and artists like Jill Scott, J Dilla, Erykah Badu, Amel Larrieux and Floetry will definitely be captivated by Maka’s enchanting songwriting and butter-smooth vocal acrobatics on her latest single, “Sinner” featuring Nigerian rapper Boogey.

“Like most of my songs, I want to write about something everyone could relate to. ‘Sinner’ talks about the vulnerability of humans and how imperfect we are,” Maka revealed in a press release, adding “I had always wanted to put that in a song so when Teck played the beat, I knew that was the right track for the concept.”
