Although they’re not particularly known for inundating the music world with rappers in spades, compared to neighboring states like Massachusetts and Connecticut, the state of Rhode Island has given rise to a notable list of artists which include Sage Francis & B. Dolan, Jon Hope, AraabMuzik and Theo Martins.

Rapper Cam Bells, who hails from the city of Providence is looking to have his name permanently etched onto the above list. The self-proclaimed ‘Prince of Providence’ is readying the release of his upcoming album Young King, Old Soul, and to (re)introduce himself to old and new fans, releases his new single, “Oxygen.” The Kris Fame-produced song samples cleverly samples Johnny Gill’s 1992 hit “There You Go,” allowing Cam breathing room to express a deep love for his city, his family/mother and a need for more conscious rap in the game.

Listen to “Oxygen” and his latest song, “Soul II Take” below.
