As crazy as it is to believe, it’s been a year since Sylvan LaCue released his Far From Familiar album. What’s even more crazy, I don’t think there’s been a single day that passed where I didn’t play at least one song from it.
Fresh off a 25-city tour with Chicago’s Saba, Sylvan celebrates the anniversary with a video for “Heavenly.”
Directed by Kejaun Blake, the eerie visual finds the Miami native taking a stroll down a desolate plaza, having a momentous conversation with God about his faith.
“We shot this video in the middle of Miami during my travels in 2016,” Sylvan says. “I wanted to keep things dark and simple. When I wrote ‘Heavenly,’ I wanted to express the duality of my ego and the urgency of my need for God’s presence in my life. It was important to make sure the visual emphasized that duality.
