In the summer of 2016, one of the seminal moments was DJ Khaled’s Major Key album, highlighted by plenty of soundtracks for the summer. But we were keen on one song in particular: “Nas Album Done.”

Essentially used as a space to remind (or introduce himself to) youngins attached to the DJ Khaled social media phenomenon, Nas stated that his new album was actually done — his first since 2012’s Life Is Good.

Though we’ve gotten snippets of new Nas in the form of “Angel Dust” and other features, we haven’t gotten any other news of an Esco album until now.

Speaking with Mass Appeal about his recent investment in the media company, they asked about “Nas Album Done” and whether or not the title was actually true.

Check out the exchange:

Nas, I know you made a record called “Nas Album Done” but I guess the album isn’t finished yet?

It’s not done till it hits the streets.

But the studio in this office is going to help create the vibe.

Oh yeah, that room is where we’re finishing everything.

Can fans expect this album before the year is over?

For sure.

Any titles in mind?

Not yet, not till release.

Will you drop tracks before the whole album comes out?

We might do a single but we might do something different.

So there you have it. A rapper promising to drop an album over the next eight months. We can take his word, right?
