While Marvel Studios have their hands full, juggling three films, including Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spider-Man:
Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok this year, the television side of Marvel Entertainment (which unfortunately does not fall under the authority of Marvel Studios/Kevin Feige, but instead answers to real–life villain Isaac Perlmutter) continues burning the midnight oil (shouts out to Jeph Loeb!).
Throughout the new year, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has massively stepped up their game for their fourth season, introducing the Ghostrider we sorely needed and wanted, while also establishing A.I.D.A. into the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon. On the Netflix side of the MCU, Marvel unveiled the final Defender with Iron Fist while setting things up for The Defenders and the solo Punisher spinoff series due out later this year.
A few days ago, Marvel premiered the official trailer for Cloak and Dagger, set to premiere in 2018 on Freeform (previously ABC Family).
The pair of superheroes are a fixture of the Runaways, which also include Amadeus Cho, Skarr, Delphyne Gorgon, Frostbite, Molly Hayes, Pixie and Jubilee.
While the trailer seems to cater toward a teenager-based demographic, the trailer does reveal its sneaky tie-in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a tease of Roxxon Corp., which has appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter and became a prominent fixture in the Daredevil series.
Watch the trailer for Cloak & Dagger—starring Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt—and read the show’s official synopsis below.
Two teenagers from very different backgrounds find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love.
