Knox Fortune – “Torture”

Knox Fortune, who’s featured on Chance the Rapper’s “All Night” and produced for Chance, Joey Purp and others, is branching out on his own. Early in April, the Chicago native introduced the first single, “Help Myself,” from a forthcoming project.

While the sound wasn’t what we’ve come to expect from Knox via his production, its melodic, distant alt-rock sound introduced a new — and probably the most genuine — side of Knox. That continues with his latest single, “Torture.”

“I’m wasted on you,” he cheerily hums with distorted vocals on “Torture,” backed by synthesizers, triumphant horns and enthusiastic energy with no worry of a downfall from his high, even though Knox knows it’s probably not good for him. It’s unabashed love.
