Watch Aminé’s Oddball ‘Becoming’ Mockumentary

blame it on Meka May 10, 2017

Before he rose to prominence with his 2016 breakout single “Caroline,” Aminé was the average aspiring musician hoping to simply get on. In this new visual “Becoming,” he takes viewers on his journey… sort of.

As part of VEVO’s LIFT program, the Oregon eclectic shot this mockumentary-style video of his days as a high schooler in 2010, trying to get his song played on the fictional The DJ Johnny James Show. “I didn’t want to bring you back to the home where I grew up and say, ‘Oh look, I grew up in the hood.’ Everyone does that.” said Aminé on “Becoming.” “I wanted to show you a day from my past, from high school with my friends, that speaks to who I am today.”

Described as “Napoleon Dynamite meets Superbad through Aminé’s POV,” the light-hearted clip can be seen below. Spinal Tap, this is not.
