Andre Young has become one of the wealthiest hip hop artists of all time, only behind JAY Z and Puff Daddy in according to Forbes. But he hasn’t done it by himself.
A forthcoming documentary, “The Defiant Ones,” will chronicle the “unlikely and wildly successful partnership” between Dre and Jimmy Iovine, co-founder of Interscope Records and Dre’s partner with Beats Electronics, as well as the duo’s impact in today’s popular music. First announced in late 2016, the four-part documentary will air July 9-12 on HBO.
Filmed by director Allen Hughes (Menace II Society) over the course of three years, the documentary will feature appearances from Ice Cube, Eminem, Marilyn Manson, Kendrick Lamar and a host of others.
An Instagram page for the documentary was recently opened, and a brief teaser for the doc debuted on it. That can be seen below.
