Nocando – “Severed” (Video)

blame it on Patrick Glynn May 17, 2017

Nocando is dropping an album on May 26 titled Severed. Today, he shares the first single — the title track — and a video for pair with it.

“Severed” opens up the album, and it sticks to the personality Nocando has established over time: bluntly honest about what’s rattling around in his brain. “Severed” isn’t an interesting political take, and it’s not sarcastically apologizing for beating the holy hell out of someone, it’s Nocando apologizing and admitting it’s his fault a relationship crumbled. People don’t often come to terms with the demise of a relationship so quickly and sober, but Nocando is upfront with it.

“It’s all my fault, and I ain’t being sarcastic. Love’s supposed to give off a pulse, and I’m not sure ours still has it,” he begins the song following the loop of a French recording that repeats a sentiment about the complication of life and relationships. It’s better, it seems, to get out of a relationship that isn’t working than to continue to be in one both parties know won’t work out in the end.
