Nas Hints At Summer Release For New Album

Nas has been teasing the imminent arrival of his twelfth studio album — and first since 2012’s Life Is Good — for roughly a year now, ever since he and DJ Khaled teamed up for a song literally called “Nas Album Done” in 2016. Yet, despite the frequent chitter-chatter, nothing has emerged.

However, it could be coming sooner than many think.

In a recent profile in the New York Times Nas — along with business partner and restaurateur John Seymour — traveled around New York, where the rapper “was back in his home city not only to complete the recording of his long-awaited next album, but to stay — at least for now.”

There is much to be talked about from what he has seen, he added. “You don’t really hear about that anymore,” he said, “and it’s missing, and that’s what I’m doing and keeping it current.”

After briefly speaking on Nas (still) listening to beats for the album, he would proclaim at the end of the piece, “We coming this summer, baby! It’s going to be a hot summer up here, man!”

For those keeping track, that technically means that Nas plans to release the album sometime between Wednesday, June 21st and Friday, September 22nd (or, the dates of summer). However, in the article he also quipped, “I always say I’m two weeks away from finishing.” So… there’s that.
