Sprite and hip-hop have had a harmonious relationship going on for a while now. Drake, Nas, Vince Staples, Isaiah Rashad and others have been sponsored by the drink through their Obey Your Thirst campaign. Lil Yachty had his song “Minnesota” featured in a commercial with LeBron James. The relationship dates back to the ’80s with the likes of A Tribe Called Quest and Pete Rock & CL Smooth, too.
Now, for Sprite’s latest campaign, the company is putting lyrics from six young hip-hop artists on their cans as a part of their Cold Lyrics series.
Vince Staples, D.R.A.M., Vic Mensa, Kamaiyah, Lil Yachty and Kap G will all have cold-themed lyrics placed on the cans, highlighted by Staples’ “Bitch, you thirsty, please grab a Sprite” line from “Norf Norf” — slightly abbreviated to make it family friendly, of course.
Each can will come with a code you can scan (on Monday, June 26), and you’ll be entered for a chance to win… something. Check out the lyrics and what they look like on the cans in the video below.
