Before embarking on the Against All Odds Tour with Yo Gotti next month, Meek Mill, who has been setting the stage for the eventual release of his next album, Wins & Losses (see his previous releases, “Glow Up” and “Whatever You Need” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Chris Brown) returns with a video for “Young Black America.”
The Spike Jordan-directed clip dives head-first into the continuous atrocities committed against young Black men by the hands of those who swore an oath to protect-and-serve, including his own encounters with the police at a young age. Furthermore, the song also touches on black-on-black crime and gang violence which permeates the city of Philadelphia.
The song also flips the same Al Green vocal sample and bassline made popular on JAY-Z‘s “Blueprint (Momma Loves Me),” while The-Dream provides the song’s hook.
