Killer Mike To Open Barbershop In Atlanta Hawks’ Arena

The NBA’s Atlanta Hawks currently have the second-longest active playoff streak in the league, having made the postseason every year since 2008 (they are still a ways behind the San Antonio Spurs, who have made the playoffs every year since 1998!). Recently announcing a “transform” their stadium, the Philips Arena, the Hawks hope to bring in some unique business courtesy of one Killer Mike.

The Hawks organization revealed plans to include renovations such as a bar on the arena floor (which is supposed to, literally, sit behind one of the basketball hoops), new seats, a larger scoreboard, and much more. However, they have also teamed with the Southern half of Run The Jewels to bring his barbershop, the SWAG Shop, to the arena.

This will be the second S(have) W(ash) A(nd) G(room) Shop Mike and and his wife and business partner, Shana Render, will open in Atlanta. The first one, located on Edgewood Ave NE in Atlanta, has been a staple of the community since it opened in 2011.

“It really is like a dream coming true because now kids are going to be coming down early just to hang out in my shop, buy a t-shirt, get a haircut and watch the game,” Mike said.

Renovations to the Philips Arena will begin throughout the summer of 2017.

This comes following the news that Mike was honored by the Georgia senate in March, and had one of the state’s multi-million dollar drilling machine named after him: “Driller Mike.
