Eric B. & Rakim Unite After 20 Years, Celebrating 30th Anniversary of ‘Paid In Full’

Since legends Eric B. and Rakim hinted of a possible reunion last October, Hip-Hop fans were taken on quite an emotional rollercoaster of a ride following that announcement. The arrival of the news originally alluded to the possibility of a new tour, marked by a Twitter poll on where the tour should jump-off.

A few days following the announcement, reports started flooding in stating those rumors were “completely false,” according to a rep of Rakim Allah, revealing “Any statements pertaining to an Eric B and Rakim reunion are completely false.”

Perhaps the rep’s statement was simply a red herring, because it looks like fans were bamboozled, but in all the right ways.

Yesterday, July 7th, marked the 30th — thirtieth — anniversary of the iconic duo’s debut album, Paid In Full, and both Eric B. and Rakim performed at the historical Apollo Theatre — marking the first time the two have shared the stage in 20 years.

According to Rolling Stone, the reunion brought out the likes of Roxanne Shante, Ice-T, T La Rock, Ma$e, Flavor Flav, Main Source and EPMD, whom all paid tributes.

Check out a few performances below and Eric B. and Rakim’s special statement and thank you.

No word yet on if any future shows — or a reunion album for that matter — are on the horizons.
