Sharing a lyric video of the song with help from (Saturday Night Sexy alum) Athena, the St. Louis native follows up with an official version, co-starring Ye Ali.
“I know I’m not the only one who’s been in a situation where you’re sleeping with someone’s partner and yet you feel he’s actually the lucky one because he gets to keep her,” JAYLIEN says of the song. “It’s a true story so everything kind of flowed out naturally from start to finish. Word for word, the song is me in a very frustrating place, kind of dark place. The lyrics and music had to match the emotion and be authentic.”
In the Josh Sikkema-directed clip, Ye Ali plays the part of the “lucky” one who owns the heart of a women JAY’s fallen hopelessly in love with. Unfortunately, that luck doesn’t last, as Jay can’t stand living in the shadows and makes his move — leaving Ali a little lost.
