Earlier in the summer, Travis Thompson made his DopeHouse debut with the Jake One-produced “American Youth.” While the Seattle-based musician seems to take inspiration from one Chance The Rapper‘s earlier days, his sound is unique enough to stand out on his own.
Thompson makes his return to the house of Dope with another visual, “Hold Me Down.” This video is simple and effective: Travis is having the time of his thus-far young life, hanging with friends at a house party, spending time with the leading lady in his life, and just traipsing through Seattle with nary a care in the world… until he catches a fade at the end. His music is somewhat reflective of carefree yet self-aware life, and for this writer it’s some of the more refreshing sonics he’s heard in a while.
