Mr. Lif & Akrobatik Reunite As The Perceptionists To Drop ‘Resolution’ Album

The Perceptionists back!

Fifteen years after releasing Black Dialogue to the masses, Mr. Lif and Akrobatik are finally back with an official follow-up in Resolution.

Just because there hasn’t been a Perceptionists album in a decade and a half, it doesn’t mean Lif and Akro haven’t been keeping their swords sharp. Over the years, Lif has went on to release four solo albums (including my personal favorite, 2006’s Mo Mega), while Akro has dropped two himself, an EP, and been a part of endless compilations.

Now, as both emcees draw from near death experiences—Lif was involved in a treacherous tour-bus crash and Akrobatik surviving open-heart surgery after suffering an aortic rupture—the Boston duo are ready to share their stories and reflect on life’s ephemeral nature.

“Sometimes in life, you just have to cut the bullshit and focus on the things that matter the most,” Mr. Lif tells Stereogum. “This is a point in time in which both me and my brother Akrobatik realize that we are lucky to be alive. The fact that we are not only alive but also highly inspired is too much of a gift to take for granted.

“Writing meaningful songs together in hopes of connecting with our listeners in positive and powerful ways is of great importance to us and we are honored to have this opportunity to share our music with the world once again.”

Locked in at 11 songs, including “Hose Down” and “Dirty Drumz,” Resolution can be heard below. Check it out and pick it up on iTunes.
