I asked myself, “I wonder when Iman Omari‘s album is coming out,” about 24 hours ago. While I yet to have an answer, the LA artist released another single — “So Real” featuring Quelle Chris — from the album today (to appease me, I’m sure).
Iman announced his upcoming project — IHY, out on Fresh Selects/Vibe Collective Music — in June with the first single, “Move Too Fast” featuring Anna Wise. The album will see Omari’s return to the microphone after keeping it instrumental on his last project, High Loops & Higher Loops.
“So Real” is produced by Mndsgn. Omari and Quelle Chris contrast each other vocally — the former floats, singing over the production, while Chris pokes at the beat, wrapping his words around the aural production. Yet, they both push forth the song’s overarching theme of keeping it real with your companion.
“I wanted to make something that embodied that old school cool with a new school twist. Mndsgn, Quelle, and I tapped into our old souls,” Omari told The FADER.
