JAY-Z Parodies ‘Friends’ With All-Black Cast for “Moonlight” Video

blame it on 2DBZ August 10, 2017

Since the release of 4:44, JAY-Z has followed up every week with a new video from his thirteenth album.

So far, he’s hit us with videos for “The Story Of O.J.,” “Kill JAY-Z,” “Bam” and the Verse of the Month winning title-track.

A week after leaving the screen time to Mahershala Ali and Danny Glover in “Adnis” (which is now available on YouTube, btw), Hov once again plays the background and leaves it up to more qualified actors and comedians to handle the job in “Moonlight.”

Directed by Alan Yang, the video is a parody of the 90’s sitcom Friends with an all-black cast of Jerrod Carmichael (Ross), Issa Rae (Rachael), Tiffany Haddish (Phoebe), Tessa Thompson (Monica), Lakeith Stanfield (Chandler), Lil Rel Howery (Joey) and Hannibal Buress as himself, because why not.

Check it out via Tidal below. If you don’t have an account, you’ll have to wait until it hits YouTube like the rest of us.

UPDATE (8/10): Right on time, a week after its original release, “Moonlight” is made available to all via YouTube.
