With Toronto arguably the hotbed for Canadian hip hop, Vancouver has also been making its mark as well. Aiming to makes radio-friendly hip-hop with a message, SonReal releases his debut album One Long Dream.
A quasi-sequel to his 2014 mixtape One Long Day, SonReal goes mostly alone throughout his 12-track outing save for a pair of bookending contributions from Sid Sriram. Led by the singles “Can I Get A Witness?,” “Potential” and “Problems,” One Long Dream is the culmination of SonReal’s rise, building a diehard grassroots fanbase with his busy touring schedule and comedic music videos.
